“National Ozempic” goes on sale: Brazil launches its first synthetic semaglutide

Brazil’s first alternative to Ozempic has officially hit the market. Starting today, June 15, pharmacies across the country will begin selling it. Ozivy, the drug developed by the pharmaceutical company EMS#atfp_close_translate_span# and approved by Anvisa at the end of May.

Ozivy is the first synthetic semaglutide produced in Brazil and uses the same active ingredient as Ozempic. The medicine is intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults and should be used only under medical prescription and supervision.

According to the manufacturer, the price starts at 452 reais per pen, with membership programs that can further reduce the cost of treatment in the initial months. Initial shipments are already being distributed through major Brazilian pharmacy chains and will gradually reach all regions of the country in the coming weeks.
