The possibility of introducing the model civic-military In five schools in the municipal network of Maringá, a consultation was conducted between school staff and students’ families.
The vote, promoted by the Prefecture of Maringá, through the Municipal Education Secretariat, took place on Monday 14 September in the municipal schools Professor Geraldo Altoé, Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis, Antenor Sanches, Professor Milton Santos And Pastor João Barbosa Macedo.
The consultation, called “territorial validation,” aimed to verify support for the possible adoption of the civic-military model in the five institutions.
In all schools the majority of voters expressed themselves in favor of the proposal. Professor Geraldo Altoé 124 votes in favor and 71 against were recorded. Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis There were 207 in favor, against 29 against. Antenor Sanches 222 people voted in favor, while 46 expressed themselves against. Professor Milton Santos the result was 156 votes in favor and 65 against. Finally, at Pastor João Barbosa Macedo 162 votes in favor and 42 against were recorded.
Overall, the five consultations involved 1,132 voters.
The vote took place in person, in form secret and optional, with only two options: “for” and “against.” Each eligible voter could cast only one vote for each school, regardless of the number of students under their care or their other ties to the institution. Voting by proxy was also not permitted.
The consultation represents the next step in a process initiated in previous weeks. Following the analysis and approval of the results of a previous procedure, in which over 1,800 people, the five schools had been authorised, on August 4, to proceed with the “territorial validation” phase.
Subsequently, meetings were held in individual schools with educational teams, parents, and student leaders. The meetings aimed to illustrate the characteristics of the civic-military model and address the concerns of families and the school community.
The Prefecture also organized, on August 11, a public meeting at the Câmara Municipal de Maringá, dedicated to the presentation of the project and to clarifications addressed to both the municipal councilors and the population.
The outcome of the vote therefore constitutes a step in the administrative process to evaluate the possible adoption of the model in the five municipal schools involved.
