Google has started rolling out a new Google Photos feature that promises to make choosing clothing easier thanks to artificial intelligence. Called Wardrobe, the new feature was announced in April and is now available to the first eligible users.
The system uses AI to analyze clothing and accessories in photos stored in the user’s personal library. Based on the stored images, Wardrobe can suggest clothing combinations and virtually create different outfits, without the user having to physically try them on.
To work properly, the technology must first recognize the user in the photos and identify the individual items in them. Therefore, only items already in the photo gallery can be used in recommendations.
In practice, if a dress, T-shirt, or accessory has never been photographed or is not clearly visible in the images saved on Google Photos, it will not be taken into consideration by the algorithm for creating matches.
Initially, Wardrobe will be available exclusively to Android users who use the Google Photos app. Access is also restricted to plan subscribers. Google AI Pro And Google AI Ultra in Brazil, the United States and India.
Google plans to expand the feature to more countries in the coming months and make it available on Apple devices, including iPhone and iPad.
With the launch of Wardrobe, Google is further strengthening the integration of artificial intelligence into its services, focusing on increasingly personalized tools capable of assisting users in everyday tasks, from managing photos to choosing the ideal outfit.
